With Scottish Historic Buildings Trust’s initiative to bring Custom House back to public use, a beautiful event was held in Leith, where this prominent building is was established in 1812. Surrounded by all types of artists, painters, jewellers, designers, it was Trina Bohan’s work that caught my attention when I visited her studio in May 2017. The artist, very welcoming and chatty, talked to me about what generates the creation of these magnificent landscapes; being a well travelled person, it’s the weather changes from place to place and as one season pass after the other, that inspire her extraordinary infusion of water and sky scapes. Being originally from New Zealand, she seemed very excited about about her residency in this prestigious building that’s on the threshold of a new beginning in its history down in Leith.
